HB Hanratty's Pub

The enigmatic man sporting a handlebar mustache, goatee and cowboy hat on the pub's sign has been looking over the corner of Camelback Road and Seventh 7th Street since 1979.

Former regulars turned owners Diane Quan and Steve Dragovich took over the super-casual bar in June 2008 and have updated it, clearing out clutter, adding a small kitchen and establishing a revamped cocktail menu. They bring white-tablecloth training to the laid-back neighborhood bar, making sure the cocktails are all well balanced, the vaguely Western-looking space is sparklingly clean, the several pool tables are perfectly maintained, and that the modest bar-food items are freshly made, wholesome (nothing's fried) and made to order.

During the week, classic rock dominates the Internet-enabled jukebox, and a 30- to 50-something crowd fills the bar. On the weekends of big games, Ohio State University alumni take over for rowdy viewing on two pull-down screens and several flat-screen TVs.
