La Bocca Urban Pizzeria & Wine Bar: User Reviews
La Bocca Urban Pizzeria & Wine Bar
699 S. Mill Ave. - Tempe480-967-5244
La Bocca Urban Pizzeria & Wine Bar is a little bit classier than most Mill Ave. spots, with a beautiful couch-filled patio, huge paintings adorning the walls and candlelit tables. The pretty atmosphere made me pleasantly surprised that the menu items are so reasonably priced—a very filling pizza is only $9, and a delicious tiramisu dessert is $4. The pizza is my favorite type—soft and flaky dough and gooey mozzarella. There will probably be a wait during peak dinner hours, but it’s well worth it.
Report This ReviewLa Bocca has big shoes to fill. They opened last year in the same big brick building that once housed the now closed Bamboo Club and Border's Books and Music (so sad to see those two go). But I have a feeling they're doing a good job. La Bocca is a trendy, hip spot that serves artisan pizzas and wine. Although both are splendid, I fell in love with the fig and prosciutto brushetta. It was beyond delicious, if that can even exist! The fig/prosciutto plate is not served in a lot of restaurants in the Valley, and it's one of my favorite flavor combinations, so I was happy to see it on the menu. La Bocca is a great place to start out the night before heading out to Mill for drinks. The food and the ambiance are both top-notch.
