J&G Steakhouse offers rainy-day deals
If it ever rains again, there's a great deal you should know about.
The stately and glamorous J&G Steakhouse at the Phoenician Resort is offering a monsoon comfort-food and cocktail pairing.
Every day until the end of September, you can sit in the dimly lit bar and look out through the floor-to-ceiling windows at the cloudscapes and indulge in a dark and stormy cocktail for $9, a mix of rum, house-made ginger beer and lime juice, and a crème of tomato soup with grilled cheese, $8.
But when it's raining, you can get those two items for half-off. It's like dinner, drinks and a show for only $8.50.
You can enjoy it all in a setting that's as dramatic as the views you'll be treated to, relaxing in a fifth-floor room, with cushy leather seating, gleaming fixtures and other touches that feel sophisticated in a modern, big-city way.
If dark and stormy isn't your thing, other versions of classic cocktails define the bar menu.
The New Yorker cocktail is a winner. It's a mix of Rittenhouse Rye, lemon, Benedictine and soda, topped with a float of red wine, and served tall on the rocks. It could be called a Rye Collins, but you might be calling it your new favorite.
If you're driving, indulge in one of the three homemade sodas, $4. The passion fruit and chili burns in a good way while the ginger ale is a revelation.
These prices are offered every day in the lounge from 4 to 11 p.m. through September.
