……A place like metro actually does use better ingredients in their drinks than the majority of bars in this town and there prices are reasonable for this. It’s the places that charge $10 -$20 for a cocktail and don’t even use fresh juices or know how to balance a drink that really wind me up, then they have $5 happy hours because their drinks don’t cost squat in the first place, no thanks. Having worked in the industry I know this all first hand, and don’t even get me started on the customers that tip the way they spend during happy hours, this the best bit of these “HAPPY hours” bartender s/ servers, getting done over after making hardly anything for working twice as hard for these demanding cheapskates at one of the busiest times of a bars hours. What should we all remember from this rant? Demand better quality and value of cocktails all the time. And rid of this happy hour tom foolery. FYI, the answer is no, I don’t or have every worked for metro. But I do like it ;-)

Ok , let me start by saying most happy hours in this town are a joke and we should actually stop this happy hour junk right now, and start pushing for better value and quality when it comes to food and drinks all the time, and not just between 5-7pm. Ok some places during HH might charge only $5 dollars for drinks /cocktails but I bet you they are using low grade spirits and ingredients to make them, this is a true tale of sometimes you do actually get what you pay for. These “deals” are great if you are just out for some cheap drinks and food or want to encourage binge drinking over a 2 hour period (compared to a more responsible attitude of drinking the same amount over a greater length of time.) What if you just want a good drink at a reasonable price all the time? Call me crazy! This is what we should be wanting/ demanding. This is what Megan should actually be pushing for. …………..
