Sunday nights are usually a little slow in Old Town Scottsdale.
Many bars and restaurants host industry night parties, during which regular people can mingle with the outrageously attractive men and women who typically wait on them. The parties usually involve dramatically reduced drink prices, which is nice for non-industry types because nothing assuages the stress of being the least attractive person in a room like cheap drinks.
But this Sunday, Canal Restaurant and Lounge at SouthBridge is hosting the Arizona Top Bar Chef Competition at 9 p.m. You can watch a range of bartenders compete against each other to create the best-tasting, most-innovative cocktail out of a secret ingredient unveiled only moments before the mixing begins. Each round has a new secret ingredient and the drinks will be judged live by a panel of local liquor experts. The winner will go on to represent Arizona in the national Top Bar Chef event at Crave Arizona in October.
