This 4th of July, Valley bars and clubs have largely scaled back the over-the-top promotions of holidays past. But there are still great times to be had, before and after the fireworks this weekend. Here are previews of some of the biggest parties in Scottsdale.

Thursday: Stone Rose Lounge at the Fairmont Scottsdale
Recognizing that head-to-toe white is always among the most flattering, easiest to wear fashion options, the sartorial tastemakers at the Stone Rose Lounge are throwing an all-white Fourth of July celebration Thursday night. The Red, White and Beautiful party pays homage to seaside fetes at the Hamptons. Beach Bunny Swimwear will host an Independence Day-themed fashion show and the airy indoor-outdoor lounge will be decorated in white with red, white and blue party favors for everyone. DJ Soulman will spin, and Champagne cocktails will be $10 each. If you prefer to buy your drinks by the bottle, all of them will be 50 percent off and will include a table, a dedicated server and mixers. Locals can take advantage of holiday room rates for $99 per night, when using code 2U8GER.

Friday: Sandbar Mexican Grill
Starting just around the time you're tired of work, Sandbar Mexican Grill hosts a Fourth of July bash that kicks off at 3 p.m. Friday. This cantina-style bar is known for its sandy “beach” and its party-ready crowds of deeply tanned 20-somethings. This weekend, it's also going to be known for its $5 32-ounce drafts and $2 bomb pop shots, which are red, white and blue shots that taste a little like Astropops.

Saturday: Clarion Hotel Scottsdale
Atlanta Hawk (and Valley native) Mike Bibby, Boston Celtic Eddie House and Sacramento King Ike Diogu host this NBA-themed Fourth of July pool party. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., this swimwear-mandatory bash takes over the intimate Scottsdale hotel. Rooms are available for $50, which includes admission to the party for two guests. Poolside cabanas are available for $600 and include a room, party admission for six guests, bottle service and a dedicated server.

Saturday: W Scottsdale Hotel and Residences
The poolside barbecue starts at noon with performances by DJ Ross One, DJ OB-One, DJ Five, Graham Funke and Stonerokk. There also will be a rooftop fireworks display after 9:30 p.m. The hotel is offering a 30 percent discount for two-night stays at $119 a night, on Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday, which includes admission to the party. Cabanas can be rented for $1,000 for the day, including bottles of Belvedere vodka and Veuve Clicquot Champagne and includes access to the party and a room.
