One of the few downtown Phoenix eateries open late, Carly’s has cultivated a loyal following not only for its hours (open until midnight Tuesdays-Thursdays and until 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays) but also for its friendly staff, beautiful art hanging on the walls and tasty vegetarian- and vegan-friendly food and beverages. Pair a caprese panini sandwich, made with thick mozzarella, fresh basil and tomatoes, and orzo salad on the side ($7.75) with a frothy, hot soy mocha ($3.75) for a no-fail meal. There often are live-music nights, but the space is quiet enough to hang out in with some reading material. Carly’s also has a wide selection of beers and martinis — be sure to try the prickly pear.
