'The Barbra Seville Show'

When Richard Stevens talks about his drag character, he emphasizes the spelling of her name.

"It's Bar-bra Seville, not Barbara," he stresses. "Like Barbra Streisand!"

Stevens, who's been a favorite on the Valley's drag circuit for more than 15 years, performs every Saturday night in his "Barbra Seville Show" at Forbidden nightclub in Old Town Scottsdale. The comedic drag show has been running for more than four months. The show is the only one of its kind in the Valley.

The cabaret-style show is in the recently renovated Showroom at the club and is a mix of upbeat songs and skits, interviews with guests and audience participation.

"Our crowd is anywhere from young gay people to people in their 40s and 50s, and straight couples who hear about the show and come over," Smith said. "We get a lot of bachelorette parties...because they like to feel comfortable and also have a lot of fun. It's really interactive."
