The thatched-roof pub at Lis Doon Varna is about as Irish as one gets without crossing the Atlantic. Much of the spacious building and furnishings were imported from Ireland, including a two-century-old church carving that now frames one of the bars. The pub's unusual name comes from a small town in County Clare known for its matchmaking and music. Modern bands play on Fridays and Saturdays, and Wednesdays and Sundays feature musicians playing traditional Irish songs. As an official "Guinness" pub, bartenders know how to pour the perfect pint, and the only Budweiser to be found is in a bottle. A large selection of European brews is on tap. And a full menu includes hearty favorites like Shepherd's Pie.
