Charlie’s hates fashion? Or just females?

On a recent Saturday night, a female friend of ours was turned away from popular gay country bar Charlie's for having too large a purse. Really. So she asked some questions, such as “Why do you have a no-big-bag policy,” and then she left, along with a bunch of our friends. When she explained that oversized purses were fashionable, she was informed that she could be fashionable somewhere else. Since when is a gay bar anti-fashion? Or are they anti-female? Seems like a pretty odd policy to us.
