District: American Kitchen and Wine Bar
320 N 3rd St - PhoenixOpen-air patio seating, live entertainment, microbrew beers and such staples as potpie, fish and chips and fried chicken.
Hanny's
40 N. First St. - PhoenixKarl Kopp, the man behind AZ88, has done it again. Housed in what was once a department store, this downtown eatery has lots of charm. The menu isn't bad either, with appetizers like onion strings and grilled cauliflower.
Cibo
603 N. Fifth Ave. - PhoenixSet in a charming 1913 bungalow, Cibo does pizza the old-fashioned way, in a wood-fired brick oven.
Majerle's Sports Grill
24 N. Second St. - PhoenixEx-Phoenix Sun Dan Majerle lends his name to this bar and restaurant that gets packed during televised sporting events and before and after big names in the downtown sports facilities.
Bar Smith
130 E. Washington St. - PhoenixAfter the lights go low at Bar Smith, which features an American, pub-style menu, the space transforms into one of downtown Phoenix’s hottest nightclubs with a diverse clientele.
Sky Lounge
132 E. Washington St. - PhoenixHang on to your date. Everyone at this two-story downtown hotspot is friendly. And we mean, grab strangers and dance with them regardless of who they're with. Dancing is a full contact sport here, where, unless you're a salsa superstar, you'll feel outmatched. But, like we said, the crowd is so warm that you'll get props for just trying to shake it like a Polaroid picture. And if you finally tire out, watching other dancers is still a jaw-dropping delight, as people you'd pass by on the street do things with their bodes to cumbia, Spanish pop and rock and reggaeton that you only see in music videos.
Seamus McCaffrey's Irish Pub
18 W. Monroe St. - PhoenixThis Irish pub is a great place to go after an event or to hang out and people-watch from the patio. The restaurant is covered in Irish decorations, and the crowd always is noisy and fun. Maybe that’s because the bar features 10 draught beers on tap and a huge selection of Irish whiskey. The place is popular for its traditional boxty dishes, so try the steak and Guinness stout boxty ($9).
Kincaid's Fish, Chop & Steak House
2 S. Third St. - PhoenixLunch and dinner offered at this warm, reliable restaurant that emphasizes meat and seafood.
Silver Martini and Wine Bar
136 E. Washington St. - PhoenixThis swanky downtown nightspot offers a variety of musical options, depending on which night you visit
