Crabby Don's Bar & Restaurant
3861 E. Baseline Road - GilbertIf you like your sports served with a thick, juicy steak or, say, a nice helping of Alaskan king crab, head to Crabby Don's-where the 'crabby' factor comes more from the menu's seafood offerings than from the wonderful staff, who really aren't anything but nice! More of a grown-up style, but still sporty, atmosphere, Don's hopes that you'll pop by and meet some of the other Gilbert sports lovers. Wine, beer and a full bar with great drink specials on Thursdays and Ladies Night on Saturdays.
Padre Murphy's
4338 W. Bell Road - GlendaleIt's been said before but Padre's really is one of the big daddy's of valley sports bars. Face it, most folks don't really go to a sports bar to wallflower it alone in the corner-they want to share the excitement with pals and heighten the energy of the game being viewed. Padre's is that place-the one where the live Irish music will have you arm in arm with strangers by the end of the night, or cheering or debating a referee's call. Watch sports, do a little OTB'ing and practice up for St. Pat's Day, 'cause that's the night of the year that Padre's really goes off-complete with a 12,000 square foot tent with green beer flowing all day long. Giant menu with American and plenty o' traditional Irish grub.
CK's Tavern & Grill
4142 E. Chandler Blvd. - PhoenixIf you're out the Ahwatukee way, CK's is a nice, friendly place to congregate. 23 TV's are situated around the place so that you don't miss a minute of sports activity. The roomy and inviting patio is also stocked with TV's, also equipped with misters for hot summer nights. Every Thursday through Sunday, the bar features live bands including local faves like Chuck E. Baby and Tribal Soul--they also welcome new acts. Thursday nights are also Ladies Nights, where the girls get Skyy vodka drinks for $3 from 7:30 p.m. to close. Not a bad deal, at all.
Goldie's Sports Cafe
10135 E. Via Linda - ScottsdaleGoldie's is sporting fun for the whole family. While you're drinking, or playing shuffleboard or just simply kicking back watching a televised event, your young ones can occupy themselves for hours, with a roll of your hard-earned quarters, in Goldie's game room for tots-filled with video games to keep their young eyes seriously glazed. Five TV's, each with 10-ft. screens make for easy ogling of your favorite sports show all the major sports packages. Happy hour through the week and on weekends.
McDuffy's
15814 N. 83rd Ave. - PeoriaFor those who want to mix sports viewing with fine dining and a night of dancing, this is the place for you. A bit less casual than the former sister location in Tempe, this is a whole new McDuffy's. Mixing giant TV's and video projections, you can feast your eyes on a mix of sporting events and music videos, all backed by a state-of-the-art sound system. The broadcast schedule for sports is extensive and those not busy at their gamblers anonymous meetings will love the OTB, as McDuffy's is Arizona Authorized Off Track Betting location for race tracks of Thoroughbred horses.
Roscoes on Seventh
4531 N. Seventh St. - PhoenixOne of the valley's only gay sports bars, Roscoe's has been going strong for over a decade now. Offering thirteen TV's with LCD technology, this is definitely the place to go if you enjoy killer specials from the bar and from the grill. During pigskin season, Sunday football brunch is all-you-can-eat, so feasibly you could spend the entire day there glued to the tube and never battle a growling stomach. Wednesdays are $1 drafts and Thursdays bring the $1 domestic bottles from 7 p.m. - 12 a.m. Sunday Bloody Sunday-that's right, every week you can shell out a mere two bucks and Roscoe's will give you a pint glass with Smirnoff vodka over ice and you choose from over 50 ingredients to build your own Bloody Mary. Football never sounded so good.
Diamond's Sports Grille
161 N. Centennial Way - MesaOnce a total haven for Chicago Cubs fans, as its original owners were none other than legendary sports announcer Harry Caray and former Major League pitcher/current Cubs announcer Steve Stone, the bar changed ownership once twice, finally landing in the hands of Doug Seipel in 1998, with an official name change to Sluggo's in 1999. Seipel maintained the sports theme but broadened the scope, encompassing all sports, year 'round. Sports memorabilia covers so much of the wall space, it makes perusing a sport, itself. Via satellite, plenty of games are available for the watching. Live music and a full kitchen make this authentic sports haunt even better.
FOX Sports Grill
16203 N. Scottsdale Road - ScottsdaleOwned by Fox Sports, this place is less of a traditional, neighborhood sports bar and more of an upscale eatery and bar where watching sports is an option, as well as engaging in some, like billiards on the beautiful, mint-condition tables. Two happy hours--Monday-Friday go from 4 p.m.- 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. - close-offer plenty of good drink specials including $1 off house wines, well drinks and draft beer. $4.95 happy hour appetizers include nachos and quesadillas.
Hazelwood's First Place Bar & Grill
3626 E. Indian School Road - PhoenixFrom the standards like baseball and football to extreme fighting, NASCAR, rugby and soccer, Hazelwood's and their fifteen flat-screen televisions showcase it all. A sponsor of the Phoenix rugby team, Hazelwood's also provides entertainment for those that like the atmosphere but want to get to business, rather than watching TV. The patio is the place for poker tournaments and trivia games as well as live musical performances. Always a good time in one of Phoenix's oldest neighborhoods. Plenty of tasty beers on tap.
R.T. O'Sullivan's
1010 W. Southern Ave. - MesaAt R.T.O's, they love the Harp lager, offering $2 pints of the yummy elixir all day, every day . The kitchen fairies even slather it over fillets before frying them for some crispy, beer-laden fish 'n chips-try the all-you-can-eat on Fridays for $10.95. And even more importantly than beer and beer-soaked food are the 80+ televisions, including big screens, on which to view the entire gamut of happenings in the sports world. If you're more of a participant than a watcher, there's plenty to do at R.T. O's-pub trivia Tuesdays, Hold 'Em poker on Thursdays, darts and video games. A great, friendly atmosphere.
