Wednesday drink specials
At Drift.

While none of these events will put the "hump" back in humpday—ew—they will make it easier to get through the rest of the week.

Armitage Wine Lounge and Cafe

Armitage Wine Lounge and Cafe

20751 N. Pima Road, Suite 120 - Scottsdale
480-502-1641

This elegant restaurant is worth the drive to get your drink on in a classy way (for a change) at its weekly Wednesday wine tastings from 6 to 8 p.m. We first want to warn you, though: Don't get too classy. The lounge is named after Armitage Avenue in Chicago, pronounced Arm-It-Age. Adding an unnecessary accent makes you sound like you're trying too hard. And the brothers behind Armitage don't want you to try at all. They want you to come in, drink and learn in their Old World-style restaurant and bar up in DC Ranch. Cheers!

Drift Restaurant and Tiki Bar

Drift Restaurant and Tiki Bar

4341 N. 75th St. - Scottsdale
480-949-8454

If you're dreaming of an ocean-side getaway but you're landlocked, you can revel in the ambiance of this tropical-themed spot by sipping on signature cocktails such as the Molokai, Tabu Tini or the Day Tripper, a mixture of Bacardi Coco, pineapple juice, cream and soda, served in a coconut-rimmed glass. On Wahine Wednesdays, all the wahine (women) in the house can score $2 You-Call-Its from 9 p.m. to midnight, and everyone can enjoy special deals on Cabo Wabo shots and Skyy Infusions. Earlier in the evening, from 4 to 7 p.m., Drift rolls out $5 food and drink specials, including tropical tipples such as daiquiris and margaritas, as well as spicy $5 nibbles such as crispy calamari and Bottle Rockets. Make it a beach party with a $15 pu-pu platter, plus $2 draft beers, $8 draft pitchers and $4 house wines by the glass.

Hidden House

Hidden House

607 W. Osborn Road - Phoenix
602-266-1763

Wednesday is Comedy on Tap night at this low-key Phoenix favorite hangout. Local independent comedians take the stage and try to steal the spotlight from the (as advertised) World's Best $6 Steak Dinner. No cover.

Drinx

Drinx

7330 E. Stetson Drive - Scottsdale
480-423-9434

Drinx is a great place to meet and mingle in Old Town Scottsdale without having to get glammed up and spend a ton of money. Drinx offers a comfortable atmosphere and upscale feel while making it easy for the customer to feel at home. During the awesomely long 4-9 p.m. happy hour Tuesdays through Fridays, you can get half-off all well drinks, house wine and domestic bottle beer. Every Wednesday is Rock U night from 9 p.m. to midnight, when you can load up on vodka Red Bulls and Jägermeister drinks from $4 and Bud Lights for $2.

Los Sombreros

Los Sombreros

2534 N. Scottsdale Road - Scottsdale
480-994-1799

This award-winning Mexican joint has been picked for almost everybody's "Best Of" list already, and from just 9 to 10 p.m., you can savor a sampling of its best drinks for $5: mojitos, white and red sangria, and margaritas. A fiver will also get select appetizers, such as mouth-watering guacamole, shrimp cocktail, chicken tacos and carnitas. We just wish the deals lasted a little longer...

Sassi

Sassi

10455 E. Pinnacle Peak Parkway - Scottsdale
480-502-9095

Sassi is gorgeously designed to resemble a Tuscan villa, and the food is just as striking. Sassi's bar offers half-price antipasti from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. At that time, you can also indulge in $7 glasses of house wine. But we also recommend dishes like orecchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe. Many of the pasta dishes feature house-made pasta like Cordolona—rope pasta with pork polpettini, red sauce, oregano, pecorino and bread crumbs. Do you feel a Mediterranean breeze? It's blowing in with the wood-roasted calamari, grilled veal chop and grappa-glazed carrots.

Oggi's Pizza & Brewing Co.

Oggi's Pizza & Brewing Co.

6681 W. Beardsley Road - Glendale
623-566-8080

Award-winning microbrew beers, gourmet pizza and 19 wide-screen televisions showing the best in sports? Sounds perfect. Check out one of the delicious sports-named pizza creations, like the March Madness (a five-cheese pizza) or the Great One (Wayne Gretzky's favorite) and wash it down with a Sunset Amber Ale, the silver medal winner at the 2005 Great American Beer Festival. From 2 to 6 p.m., all drinks are buy-one-get-one-free with the purchase of a food item. Night owls can also down $1 brews from 6 p.m. to close.

Stingray Sushi

Stingray Sushi

4302 N. Scottsdale Road - Scottsdale
480-941-4460

Get a little exotic on the cheap at this trendy, flashy sushi joint. Food and drink specials abound from 3 to 7 p.m., and the sushi menu is perfectly priced for sampling. The menu includes California and spicy tuna rolls for $3, shrimp tempura rolls for $4, and crispy spicy tuna, dragon and Las Vegas rolls for $5. Sip on half-price cold sake and specialty drinks or $4 seasonal red wines. Sake Bombers are also half-off.

The Cove Trattoria

The Cove Trattoria

7001 N. Scottsdale Road, Suite 128 - Scottsdale
480-951-8273

Tucked into Scottsdale Seville Center, the Cove is an intimate, unexpectedly chic Italian restaurant and bar that focuses on big plates of comfort food, ambitious original entrees and thoughtfully made drinks. The low-lit interior is more modern than you'd expect from a family-run place, with sharp lines, bold accent colors and lots of hard surfaces. But it makes for the kind of spot Scottsdale cool kids feel comfortable in, while mingling with 70-something regulars, whether on the patio or inside. Enjoy all bottles of wine at half-price every Wednesday. The Cove Trattoria features more than 30 wines from around the world, including Australia, Italy and Spain.

Pussycat Lounge

Pussycat Lounge

4426 N. Saddlebag Trail - Scottsdale
480-481-3100

In a move that has shocked regulars, Pinky Ring, formerly downtown Phoenix's Bar Smith's Wednesday-night electro dance party, has taken up residence at the recently remodeled, über-Scottsdale bar Pussycat Lounge. The night of no-frills, dance-floor-filling beat-matching features six rotating DJs: D-JR, Tricky T, Bigie, Senbad, Benjamin Cutswell and Death to the Throne. With idiosyncratic, insider-ish music, Pinky Ring attracts a crowd with art-school haircuts and music tastes dominated by bands more popular on the blogosphere than the radio. Everyone's excited to see how this crowd mashes up with the one better known for frequenting this upscale drinking-and-dancing destination.
