Separated by location, time and life itself

Let’s be honest. Long distance relationships typically suck. They can be lonely, isolating, even agonizing. Maybe that’s why Hollywood hasn’t made all that many romantic comedies directly confronting the challenges of keeping the fire burning while thousands of miles apart.
A rare example, “Going the Distance,” opens Sept. 3, starring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long as a couple sustaining an east coast-west coast romance in this age of redeyes, sexting and Skype.
