I wasn’t ever going to rush into anything and do the transition that a lot of people do just to do a movie and say they did it. I wasn’t interested in that. If I was gonna do something I wanted to do acting right, really believe in something and believe in a role, and feel passionate about it.
“I did think ‘there’s no way I want my first film to be a musical.’ I like a challenge. I wanted something I could sink my teeth in to and if I was gonna act, I was gonna act, I wasn't just gonna portray another side of myself. But [‘Burlesque’] came with everything. The underground world that burlesque is, the beauty, magic and wonderment really spoke to me.”
