Van Halen, 'A Different Kind of Truth'
Due out: Feb. 7
After 28 years, Van Halen fans can finally uncross their fingers. The California hard rockers will release their first entire LP featuring frontman David Lee Roth since “1984” on Feb. 7. A single, entitled “Tattoo,” is scheduled to drop Jan. 10. Ex-Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar has claimed the new album is “old outtakes from the old days.” But Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti, who heard the band rehearse, described the music as “incredible.” Then there was the exchange Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt recounted for Neil Zlozower’s photography book, “Eddie Van Halen”: Running into EVH at Henson Studios, Bettencourt asked how the LP was going. “Eddie responded, ‘It’s cool…I’m a little nervous though.’” Bettencourt then said, “‘But you’re Eddie Van-freakin’-Halen!’” Eddie’s response: “‘I know…Why do you think I’m nervous?’”
