Stockyards Restaurant and 1889 Saloon

Restored in 2005, this Phoenix landmark sends out old-Arizona vibes. So does most of the menu. There are, of course, “calf fries.” There also are juicy grilled steaks such as the Kansas City strip and “baseball cut” of top sirloin. Alternatives such as calf liver with caramelized onions and cornmeal-crusted trout also are on the menu. The homemade root-beer float, jacked up with Jack Daniels, sends you home happy.
