Flor de Michoacán
Paleterias (popsicle shops) produce stunning fruit bars and ice cream, and Flor de Michoacan expertly carries on the Mexican tradition. What jumps out is the depth of the fruit flavor, whether it's a pop made from guava, pineapple or watermelon, or ice cream fashioned from mango, strawberry or cantaloupe. It's all terrifically refreshing. The usual fruit suspects are all here, and they're fabulous, but the exotic flavors are stunning. We're talking jamaica (hibiscus), guava and the fascinating mix of melon-like pepino, juicy and mildly sweet, with chile. It's hot and cool at the same time.
