The food at Giuseppe’s is pretty basic, but it’s basically cheap and good. Tucked away in a shopping complex that has seen better days, the atmosphere of the restaurant is pleasant and familiar: Black-and-white checkered linoleum and a blackboard menu. Owner Richard Bock, principal cellist at the Phoenix Symphony, spent a decade in Italy, and he knows both his pizzicato and his pizzaiola. Look for pasta, heroes and veal parmigiana. Bring your own wine or beer.
