La Grande Orange Pizzeria

This is a comfortable, casual place with a lively Berkeley bistro feel: place-mat menus, artsy Orangina posters, a 1967 photo of the Doors' Jim Morrison and a central service table stocked with pizza trays, pitchers and silverware. The guiding culinary philosophy here is “keep it very simple.” The menu is limited: fabulous salads, hamburgers, pizzas and desserts. But the limits speak only to the variety of offerings, not their quality. Look for the Sonoma garden salad and the Gladiator pizza with sausage and pepperoni.
Although famous for its specialty pizzas, LGO is also a coveted and busy breakfast spot, featuring a popular coffee bar, fresh baked goods, egg sandwiches, and other breakfast items made from scratch daily with locally grown and organic produce. The Commuter Sandwich, scrambled eggs, tomato, and mayo, with your choice of bacon, turkey, ham, smoked salmon, or avocado on a toasted English muffin, is consistently good. No matter what you pick off the breakfast menu, don't leave without trying LGO's famous homemade English muffins.
