Café Monarch is the ultra-personal antidote to the cookie cutter concepts of the corporate world. The 500-square-foot space is so quirky, so charming, so thoroughly imbued with the wit and warmth of its owner Chris Van Arsdale that it seems more like a treasure-filled clubhouse than an actual money-making enterprise. There's no menu, just daily selections written on chalkboards.
