The restaurant that houses Monti’s La Casa Vieja has been around for more than 125 years. It originally was a house built by Charles Trumbull Hayden. Now it’s a steak house that’s a popular Tempe destination on the edge of the Mill Avenue District. Monti’s is known for its prime-rib and ground-sirloin steaks, but the historic restaurant (decorated with Tempe memorabilia) also offers fish and pork dishes as well as burgers, sandwiches and salads. Be sure to add a spaghetti side, since the decades-old sauce is very tasty.
