6. "Wild Wild West"
The original 1960s television series was envisioned as “James Bond on horseback.” The story of two secret service agents working through mystery and sci-fi-filled suspense in a post-Civil War west was truly a first of its kind.
At the time of its release, the “Wild Wild West” film adaptation was only less expensive to make than “Titanic” and 1995’s titanic dud “Waterworld,” but it became a rare Fourth of July misfire for Smith. Curiously, his “Wild, Wild West” single blew up the pop charts in a way that undoubtedly made his filmmaking buddies jealous.
